Telemedicine: Affordable, Convenient and Reliable

It’s called a doctor’s visit. Where we go to see the doctor, right? That’s how it has always worked. But let’s face it. These days a 15-minute appointment can sometimes require missing a half-day of work. Enter telemedicine—qualified doctors available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via your camera-enabled tablet, smartphone or computer.

Telemedicine is not the answer for every medical issue, but for many routine ailments, chances are you will be pleased with this time saver. After all, there are some symptoms, aliments, infections, etc., that we become familiar with due to personal experience. Take conjunctivitis (more commonly known as pink eye), for example. Once your child has had it, you can feel confident diagnosing it again and recognizing it in your other children. This is a perfect example of when telemedicine could be the quickest, easiest and most cost-effective solution. Plus, by avoiding the in-person visit, you haven’t exposed others to pink eye or picked up something worse in a crowded waiting room.

Enrollment is required before receiving treatment. It only takes a few minutes to register online. Generally it is a good idea to enroll before you need treatment. Most telemedicine services require a treatment fee, which is generally much lower than the cost of a traditional doctor’s appointment.
