Important Credentialing Reminders for MedCost Network Providers in NC/SC

MedCost Needs Access to CAQH

All new providers, including those joining existing practices, must be credentialed and approved before they can be added to the MedCost Network. And all existing network providers must be re-credentialed every three (3) years to remain in the network.

  • To ease the initial credentialing and recredentialing process for providers, MedCost participates in the Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH). It is imperative you keep your CAQH file up-to-date and attest to this information during the time frames as required by CAQH.
  • Add MedCost as one of the health plans authorized to access your information. This will allow MedCost to obtain your current credentialing information from the UPD database. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ENSURE WE CAN COMPLETE THE INITIAL CREDENTIALING AND RECREDENTIALING PROCESS. If MedCost is not selected, the credentialing process cannot be completed and the recredentialing process cannot be finalized, resulting in termination.
  • For more information on MedCost and CAQH, click here.

Upon completion of the initial credentialing process and approval, you will receive a separate letter in the mail indicating the provider’s effective date. Please do not submit any claims until you receive notification of your MedCost Network effective date. If you submit a claim with a date of service prior to that effective date, it will be processed as out-of-network.

Update Certificate of Insurance on CAQH

To make credentialing and re-credentialing as seamless as possible, it is important to update and maintain your insurance policy information (Certificate of Insurance/COI) on CAQH. Ensuring you maintain current information and documentation helps us to complete the credentialing process efficiently and avoid delays. You can update your information here.
