The Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP) has been updated to align with the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the 42 CFR Part 2 Final Rule, which require enhanced disclosures regarding the use and disclosure of substance use disorder records. These revisions ensure compliance with current federal regulations and provide participants with clear information about how their protected health information may be used and disclosed.
What Must You Do?
- Ensure all plan participants receive the updated NPP.
- Distribute the NPP as part of your annual package, enrollment materials, or other participant communications.
How Will MedCost Assist?
MedCost is updating your Summary Plan Description (SPD) to include these changes:
- If your 2026 renewal is upcoming, updates will be included.
- If your 2026 renewal has already passed, a revised SPD will be provided soon by your account manager.
