FILING CLAIMS ELECTRONICALLY
Filing claims electronically is the most effective and timely way to get claim information to us. MedCost receives most claims electronically, via clearinghouses such as Change Healthcare, Allscripts, Availity, and SDS.
The required edits are as follows:
MedCost Payer ID Number: 56162
Group Number: Located on the member’s ID card
(The group number also can be located in the MedCost Reference Guide.)
Claims needing urgent repricing can be sent via e-mail to [email protected].
UPDATE YOUR INFORMATION TO PREVENT CLAIMS PROCESSING ISSUES
Submitting demographic changes to MedCost as they occur is imperative to ensure seamless claims processing. If you change locations, change tax IDs, or add locations, please notify us timely to avoid any issues with claims processing. Keeping demographic information up-to-date ensures appropriate notification and payment of claims.

PLANS CHANGE - VERIFY BENEFITS FOR NEW CALENDAR YEAR
It is always important to verify benefits for a patient to ensure you collect the appropriate co-payment, co-insurance, deductible, etc., at the time of service. This is especially important as we begin a new calendar year when benefits can likely change. Please obtain the most current copy of the patient’s insurance ID card at each visit. The payer information is listed on the back of the card; the payer will have the patient’s most current eligibility status. MedCost also offers a convenient listing on our website to give you a direct link to our payer partners with online access.
