The focus of the Transparency in Coverage rule is to help consumers better understand the costs associated with their health care. In accordance with the rule’s Public Transparency Disclosure requirement, MedCost will build, generate, and publish machine-readable files (MRFs) containing two types of rates:
- Negotiated rates for all covered items and services between plans and in-network providers
- Historical payments to, and billed charges from, out-of-network providers
We have been working with our partners to remove barriers to meeting the regulatory enforcement date and will post MRFs at https://mrf-download.changehealthcare.com/medcost/ beginning July 1, 2022. Note: The website is unavailable at this time; the website and MRFs will be made available to the public on July 1.
We will keep you informed as we continue our work to support the required capabilities for applicable provisions within the Transparency in Coverage Rule, including the launch of MedCost’s online self-service cost comparison tool for members that will give pricing and cost-sharing information for covered items and services.
